Heroes for Children - a Texas-based nonprofit that provides social and financial assistance to families with a child aged 0 to 22 - is putting a fun twist on their annual 5K and Fun Run by encouraging attendees to show up dressed in their favorite costumes in celebration of their inaugural Heroes in Disguise Month.
The Texas nonprofit recognizes that while you don’t have to wear a cape to be a hero, they can certainly make running more fun! Event Co-chairs Robert and Gina Kidd have organized a fantastic event which will be held on Oct. 26 at Galatyn Park in Richardson. Families will be treated to an Adventure Zone with games, activities and bounce houses, in addition to the memorable 5K and fun run.
The event not only provides a day of fun but allows the organization to raise money that will directly benefit Texas families with a child aged 0-22 battling pediatric cancer. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $75,000.
Registration is $30 and open for children and adults. For those unable to attend, there is a virtual runner option for individuals who still wish to support Texas families battling pediatric cancer. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, starting at $750. To register or sign up to sponsor the Heroes in Disguise: 5K and Fun Run, visit https://heroesforchildren.org/heroes-in-disguise-5k/.
This year, the Heroes for Children 5K will also kick off the Inaugural Richardson Challenge. The Richardson challenge is a unique trilogy of races including the Heroes in Disguise 5K, the Spirit Run! 5K and the Richardson Gobble Hobble 5K/10K. Each of the three races will take place at Galatyn Park and benefit local nonprofits committed to helping children.
